WHAT IS A 'CASA PARTICULAR'?

'Casa particular' really means private accommodation. The Cuban government allows Cubans (by a license) to rent out rooms in their houses or apartments to tourists, like a Bed and Breakfast operation.

As any other type of accommodation such as hotels are owned by the government, the term 'casa particular' states that this kind of paid lodging is privately operated.
